Aaron is a political and International Relations analyst with considerable experience in the academe and policy think tanks. Some of his works have appeared at the Asian Politics & Policy (APP), Asia and the Pacific Policy Society (APPS), Pacific Forum, Asia-Pacific Bulletin (APB), CSIS Asia Maritime Transparency Initiative (AMTI), East Asia Forum (EAF), The Strategist, The Interpreter, China-US Focus (CUSF), South China Morning Post (SCMP), World Politics Review (WPR), and The Manila Times. He has likewise been interviewed/cited by major media outlets such as the SCMP, Bloomberg, ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC), The Philippine Star, Rappler, Business World, China Daily, and Xinhua.

Presently, Aaron is Program Convenor and Research Fellow at the Asia-Pacific Pathways to Progress (a foreign policy think tank), Associate Fellow at the Philippine Council for Foreign Relations (PCFR), and Project Consultant and Research Fellow at the University of the Philippines (UP) Korea Research Center (KRC).

He previously served as Senior Lecturer at the Asian Center in UP, became a Visiting Fellow at the China Institute of International Studies (CIIS) in Beijing, and is an alumnus of the East-West Center (EWC) in the United States. Aaron obtained his PhD in International Relations from Shandong University in the People’s Republic of China (PRC).
